A capriccio or caprice (sometimes plural: caprices, capri or, in italian, capricci), is a piece of music, usually fairly free in form and of a lively character. The typical capriccio is one that is fast, intense, and often virtuosic in nature.
May we sing for you?
We are a mixed voice ensemble of 13 singers plus our Conductor/ Musical Director Susan Acty and our Accompanist, Peter Mills.
Capriccio was founded in Southport by our present Musical Director, Susan Acty, in 1991. Originally a ladies choir, men were soon added to the group (some of the original members are still in the choir today!).
Our membership is drawn from the Wirral, Formby and Southport and most of us sing in other choirs and choral societies and have many years experience. We all have a good sense of humour and if we look serious when we are singing it’s just because we are concentrating!
We enjoy singing a wide repertoire of music to suit all tastes - including 15th century, baroque, romantic, modern sacred music, victorian part songs, modern arrangements of old favourites and "classics", music from the shows and traditional songs.
We have sung in beautiful cathedrals like Gloucester, Durham,
Liverpool and Carlisle and in magnificent churches in Prague, and have also
featured regularly on BBC Radio Merseyside "United in Song" Sunday
morning broadcasts.
We are available for weddings, receptions, charity fund raising events and
after dinner concerts.
For our next Concerts see EVENTS in the menu.
